At ALIVE YOUTH we want a place, a community where people feel like they belong. That when they arrive and when they leave, they feel like they can call ALIVE YOUTH their home.

We know that community is about people having the same interests.

Acts 2:44-47
And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved

These people just had an encounter with the Holy Spirit and so with this common encounter they came together as a community. They ate food together, they sang together together they gave to the needy and together they learnt about Jesus.

The best thing about this scripture is that it tells us that people were being added to the community of believers every day!

We as ALIVE YOUTH need to be a community that is INCLUSIVE not EXCLUSIVE. We want to include everyone. We want people who look different, act different, speak different, talk the same, act the same, look the same. No matter who they are we want them in our community.

We want our community to grow in number every week like they did in the book of Acts.

2.     LOVE

To grow in number every week we need to love everyone no matter what.

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another

1 John 4:11
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another

Since we know God, we should know what love is and know how to love others

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

In community, yes we are not all the same and yes we may not get along well with some people but we can still love them and that is what God tells us to do.

Listen to this movie quote.

"In the silence, I remembered this one time that I never told anybody about. The time we were walking. Just the three of us. And I was in the middle. I don't remember where we were walking to or where we were walking from. I don't even remember the season. I just remember walking between them and feeling for the first time that I belonged somewhere."

Belonging doesn't always happen straight away, but once it happens you know.

Our heart is that everyone who comes to ALIVE YOUTH will come to a place where they feel in their heart that they belong. That there are people here that love them no matter what.
