COMMUNITY - A PLACE FOR YOU // Ps Earl Patterson

1. The condition of sharing or having certain attitudes and interests in common.
"the sense of community that organized religion can provide"

Community brings unity! “community” is a compound word; “com” means with and “unity” means what the word says…unity or being unified or having a common union.

Our heart this year is that ALIVE YTH would be known for community. That when people left a connect group night or a Friday night or even a Sunday morning, they would leave feeling that they were apart of something great. That they had a place to call their community.

Jesus knew that community was a good thing. He not only created community for his disciples but he also created community for people who weren't connected with him.

LUKE 19:5-10

5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. 7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” 8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Our aim this year is that we would connect youth in to ALIVE YTH who wouldn't usually come because they didn't think that they were welcomed or belonged.

We are going to be doing this through...

  1. Our new mid-week Youth Connect Groups.
  2. Friday nights being more inviting and a flow on from connect groups.
  3. More regular hang outs out side of youth, connect groups and church.

Community is a massive part of life and we want you and your friends to be able to call ALIVE YTH your community.
